Baradar wins at CICFF 2020

Baradar has won 1st prize in the best Live-Action Short Film category at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival (CICFF) 2020.

CICFF aims to set an internationally-recognized standard of excellence in film for children and youth. They strive to support the work of talented and dedicated filmmakers by showcasing international films of the highest quality and awarding prizes in multiple categories of production formats and genres. The film experiences of young viewers are deepened through a broad range of programs which extend festival film viewing into discussion and learning. Facets’ Chicago International Children’s Film Festival is one of only two Oscar-qualifying children’s film festivals in the world. CICFF is presented by FACETS, a nonprofit that connects people to independent ideas through transformative film experiences.

So far, the film has been selected in almost 20 international festivals and has won 11 awards! (such as, to name a couple: Best Children’s Film at the Uppsala International Short Film Festival (Swe) and two awards at the Giffoni Film Festival (Ita).

Here’s a link to the IMDB page with the full list: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10377558/awards?ref_=tt_awd

And the great news is that its international journey is just at the beginning, as we have recently applied to a number of international film festivals in the US and worldwide, including the Lebanese Independent Film Festival, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival [Academy Award Qualifying], the Florida Film Festival  [Academy Award Qualifying] and New York International Children’s Film Festival  [Academy Award Qualifying].

Needless to say, we’ll keep you updated also in the upcoming year, especially once we know where it will be screened in the US, in case you and Cami would like to attend.

Moreover, we are considering the opportunity to arrange Oscar qualifying screenings in LA some times next year, and we have a project of transporting the remarkable story of Ali and his brother also in other film forms, such as a feature film or a TV series, which is something we would love to discuss with you, if interested, considering you have been one of the earliest supporter of the short film!

In case, let us know if you’d like to set up a Skype call after these incoming holidays.

In the meantime, we take this opportunity to thank you again for believing in this beautiful project, and we wish you a wonderful holiday season and a great 2020.
